The newly elected Nebbi LC5 Chairman Emmanuel Orombi has been advised to work closely with all parties in the district to foster development in Nebbi .
The call was made by Okoro County Member of Parliament Eng. Simon Dujanga and Nebbi Municipality Member of parliament Sulaiman Hashim in their congratulatory message to Orombi.
Eng Simon Dujanga in his message was delighted that the people of Nebbi voted the NRM candidate and appealed to Orombi to work for all the people irrespective of their political affiliation.
He said as a veteran in the party, he is ready to render any assistance to Orombi.
Nebbi Municipality MP Sulaiman Hashim said NRM victory indicates that the party is still very strong on the ground. He was glad that the NRM candidate swept most sub counties and Municipalities in the by- election.
He also applauded the people of Erusi which has previously been a strong opposition strong hold for voting the NRM candidate. Sulaiman also appealed to Orombi to follow up on government programs and deliver as expected like the late Esrom Alenyo.
Commenting about the low voter turn up that characterized Thursdays election, the legislator observed that all parties including the electoral commission and local leaders played their part in mobilization of the voters and therefore no one should be blamed for this.
Thursday’s by-Election took place as a result of the death of Esrom Alenyo who passed away in a road accident in 2018. The by –election attracted three candidates where by NRM Candidate Orombi Emmanuel emerged victorious with 22,280 votes , he was followed by Independent candidate George Uthuba 18,323 and FDC candidate Vicky Onyai emerged the last with 4022 votes.
