NEBBI: The Archbishop Church of Uganda Dr Stephen Kazimba Mugalu has warned greater Nebbi against corruption.
Stephen Mugalu, who is for his pastoral tour in Nebbi diocese arrived on Friday last week and is on his 3rd day in the diocese.
His pastoral tour of Nebbi diocese is covering archdeacons of `Okoro, Jonam, Padyere and Nebbi urban archdeacon. He will move to the rest of West Nile.
During his sermon at Agwok church of Uganda on Monday during his 3rd day of pastoral visit to West Nile diocese, the Archbishop revealed that corrupt leaders deprive communities of good services from government, hence calling for stringent measures to fight the vice.
“Corrupt officials do not give good service delivery to the people they serve, the corrupt should return to Jesus Christ because corruption is ungodly,” he said.
He cited an example of Lazarus who was a tax collector but later realized his mistakes and turned to Jesus and refunded all what he bribed from people.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Orombi Nebbi district chairperson equally described corruption as an enemy of development.
Orombi said that Nebbi district is committed to fighting corruption among civil servants and it has done this by deploying informers in all health centers and lower local government units among others.
The Bishop of Nebbi Anglican diocese, Rt Rev Pons Ozelle Awinju in his welcoming remarks noted that the embezzlement of government and church funds through corruption is rampant and urged the government to put stringent regulatory rules to deal with corrupt officials.
Meanwhile hundreds of believers accepted Jesus as their personal savior during the last Pastoral visit of the archbishop Kazimba Mugalu in Nebbi Diocese at Goli central archdeacon today.
