ZOMBO:Football fanatics in Zombo district have welcomed the CAF bid for Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania to host the 2027 Afcon tournament.
The three nations under the East Africa Pamoja beat South Africans Zambia and Botswana as well as Senegal to host the rights to stage the 36th edition of the biggest showpiece in African Football as revealed by Caf President Patrice Motsepe at the Executive meeting held in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday.
Robert Jakony, the president Paidha Black Angels Sports club based in Zombo district says bringing Afcon in East Africa will strengthen the capacity of upcoming players to play quality football.
Jakony lauded the FUFA president Moses Magogo for championing the campaign to bring the tournament to East Africa.
Jerry Adebo, a football fan, said that 18 out of 54 countries have hosted AFCON and none of the 3 East African countries has ever hosted it. He is optimistic that the tournament will benefit businesses across East African countries.
