PAKWACH: Senior four candidates of Excel College Pakwach have been suspended for two weeks after staging a strike that left some of the school property destroyed.

Among the property destroyed were dormitory windows.

According to Francis Onenarach, the school head teacher, the students were angered and turned rowdy after the school denied them a special diet during their mock examinations.

“They wanted to have a special diet different from the lower classes since they are sitting for their mock exams which the school did not provide and this angered them,” Onearach explained in a telephone interview with Paidha FM journalist this morning.

Onearach further says that the students further wanted an explanation from the administration why they did not sit for examination papers they had paid for.

“They paid 40,000 shillings for WAKISA EXAMINATION PAPERS from Wakiso District for their Mock but the exam paper they sat for yesterday morning was different so they wanted an explanation from school administrators,” he explained.

The School administration has suspended the students until 18th August 2023 when they will resolve the matter with their parents and Guardians.

Pakwach resident district commissioner Paul Eseru confirmed that police were notified and rushed to the school and quelled the rowdy students.

Pakwach district police commander SP Samuel Lubega observed that no arrest has been made adding that the situation is calm at the school with normal lessons ongoing to other classes.

Efforts to get comments from the students were futile at the time of filling this story.

Excel college Pakwach is a privately owned secondary school established in 2002 with an enrolment of 500 students.

Last year West Nile region was engulfed with many strikes a trend that worried stakeholders in the region.
