KOLE: The police in Kole district have in custody, Jasper Odongo, an eighteen-year-old man accused of killing a sixty-year-old woman identified as Elya Silima and robbing her of seventeen million and four hundred and fifty thousand shillings.

It is alleged that the suspect, who is a casual worker to the deceased killed her before vanishing with seventeen million shillings cash which she had in her house among other valuables.

The other items include a screen-led television, smartphone, small phone, bed sheets, and sugar among others. The incident happened on Tuesday in Korner village, Ayer Parish, Kole district.

It is alleged that the incident happened when three workers of the deceased had gone out to sell eggs while Odongo was left home with her.

According to police, the deceased son identified as Isaac Baine noticed that her mother was missing prompting a search which later discovered her mother lying dead inside their house and Odongo was also missing the other items.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the north Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson said that the matter was reported to the police leading to the suspect`s arrest from his hiding place in Minakullu in Oyam district.

“The items were recovered with the suspects and have been exhibited. The suspect is being held for aggravated robbery and murder” he revealed.
