Electoral commission today concluded nominations of candidates to contest in the forth coming 2026 presidential race.
The nominees include the incumbent president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who was nominated early Tuesday as flag bear for the ruling NRM party, Robert Kasibante, a first-time presidential candidate representing the National Peasants’ Party, Robert Kyagulanyi representing the national Unity Platform (NUP).
Others include Maj Gen.Mugisha Muntu presidential flag bearer for Alliance For National Transformation( ANT), Nathan Nandala Mafabi representing Forum for Democratic Change( FDC), former presidential candidate also conservative party flag bearer Elton John Mabirizi and former Kawempe south mp, Mubarak Munyagwa representing common man’s party.
The nomination exercise was conducted at the Electoral Commission Head Office Grounds, Lubowa, Wakiso District, starting at 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days September 23 and 24th.
The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, officially confirmed the fully nominated candidates and handed them security vehicles along with each six security personnel to ensure their protection during the campaign period.
Alliance for National Transformation presidential flag bearer, Mugisha Muntu campaigns are anchored on a vision to deliver the new Uganda, the people can trust, while FDC’s Nathan Nandala Mafabi campaign slogan is fixing the economy, money in the people’s pockets and NUP’S Robert Kyagulanyi camapain slogan is the new Uganda now.
