ALUR KING SURVIVES ROAD ACCIDENT DURING WEE HOURS OF THURSDAY

The Ubimu of Alur, His Royal Majesty Philip Olarker Rauni III, was involved in a road accident in Alwi trading Centre in Pakwach District, on his way to the Royal Palace at Atyak Winam in Zombo district.

His press department reported in a statement today 25th September 2025, adding that the accident occurred in the wee hours of Thursday, September 25, 2025.

When Ubimu Rauni III and his royal entourage were enroute to Atyak Winam for the royal ceremony of blessing (goyu lau iwi) the two vehicles offered to him by the Government of Uganda which had been scheduled for today.    

“As the royal convoy slowed at a road hump, a driver of a Fuso lorry behind was speeding, then lost control and rammed, first into Ubimu Rauni III’s car, and then into the lead car. The errant driver sped off but the Director of Operations, Jimmy Cwinya’ai, who was in the third car, gave chase and apprehended him.” The statement reads in part.    

Ubimu Rauni III and his entourage did not sustain any injuries.  David Rupiny, the director communication and Kingdom spokespersons revealed

Rupiny, added that Royal staff responded to the situation swiftly and Ubimu Rauni III was safely evacuated to the Royal Palace in Atyak Winam where he is carrying out his roles normally.   

Meanwhile he says the Police at Pakwach Central Police was called to the scene of the accident.

It has since been found that the lorry driver was under the influence of drugs. The driver has been detained at Pakwach Central Police and the lorry impounded.
