The 2025 UCE examinations commenced on October 13, 2025, yesterday with over 432,000 candidates registered to sit for the exams across the country. 52.7% of the candidates are female and 47.3% are male. The cohort includes 679 learners with special needs.

UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule Musamba told reporters during a press briefing held at the Police Headquarters in Naguru that exams had successfully commenced in all parts of the country.

Musamba revealed that these exams are the second cohort under the revised lower secondary curriculum, where 20% of the final grade is from continuous assessment and 80% from the written exams.

This year’s examination cycle is being conducted under the theme: “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment,” which UNEB says reflects its commitment to fair, secure, and comprehensive assessment processes.
