The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, has declared national prayer days to take place on November 19th to 22nd at the Anglican Martyrs’ Shrine in Namugongo, led by Archbishop emeritus Rt. Rev. Luke Orombi.
Archbishop Kazimba revealed that the national prayers are critical as Uganda prepares to go for general elections in January 2026. He said it’s crucial to seek God’s intervention in order for the country to have peaceful and transparent elections.
The archbishop further said that prayers will go further to ask God to intervene in the apparent problems being faced by the country including increasing road carnage, landslides around Mt, Elgon in the eastern part of the country and floods in Bundibugyo in western Uganda where more than 20 people have been reported dead.
Archbishop Kazimba further said the recent attacks on Kasese district by suspected rebels will be among the prayer points.
He rallied all Ugandans to attend and participate in praying for their nation and also offer financial support.
Archbishop Kazimba urged Ugandans to prioritize peace and unity as the country approaches the election season. He appealed to all citizens to avoid violence and to ensure that the election process remains peaceful and fair.
“This is the time to pray for our country so that we go through peaceful, free, and fair elections. I encourage all Ugandans to be peacekeepers,” Archbishop Dr. Samuel Kazimba Mugalu emphasized.
