THE INSTALLATION OF STREET LIGHTS EXCITES PAIDHA COMMUNITIES
SIMON ADIMAZOMBO: The business community and residents of Paidha town council, Zombo district have expressed happiness over the installation of streets lights in the area.
They say this will go a long way in addressing security challenges in the district especially in dark sports and ease the movement of communities at night among others.
Previously communities in Paidha town council attributed the absence of street lights in the area to the rampant house break-ins and robberies.
Among the areas that have benefited from this project are Kaya trading centre, Bar Okoro, Paidha health center 111, Club Kwete, Tiend Mach, Lorry park and Bed Kuweng street.
Ayenya Jennet, a fish monger in Paidha Town counci says the solar panel street light at “tiendmachsoko” is excited about the development and anticipates huge profits from her fish business.
“Previously I used to use light from my phone which was a bit inconveniencing because the light was insufficient, unreliable and I couldn’t serve my customers well,” she says.
The LC III Chairman Paidha town council Innocent Onega Godfrey says this development will reduce the crime rate in Zombo, and enhance small scale businesses for the residents operating in evening hours.
He says that a total of 12 electrical light and 14 solar panels of 130 watts each, worth 31.1 million shilling have been installed from locally generated revenue.
He says plans are under way to install street lights in other places in Zombo.
Onega urges the residents to own the project, by watching out for unscrupulous people with ill motives of stealing and vandalizing the lights
