KOLOLO: A number of officials in the Acholi and West Nile regions are candidates for Luzira Prisons, President Yoweri Museveni has said.Museveni said that during his bizarre meeting with residents of Acholi and West Nile recently he realized that many people deserve arrest.He faults them for abusing government products such as the emyooga and parish development model programs which are meant for eradicating poverty in the regions.President Museveni disclosed during the State of Nations address on Wednesday from Kololo that the state house anti-corruption unit is already investigating many of those implicated.“Some of the suspects have already been arrested and I will continue to traverse the country and bring the culprits to light. Those implicated are mainly the local government officials and accounting officers within the different administrative units, he revealed.Meanwhile the President urged Ugandans to focus on adding value to the raw materials produced in the country. Through various government interventions including Emyooga and Parish Development Module, Museveni argues that Ugandans are able to move into the money economy. “Add value to all the raw-materials that do not have to be consumed fresh so that we create more jobs and get more money for our sweat”, Museveni said.According to Museveni, Uganda is currently producing very many raw materials ranging from coffee, cotton, tea among others which are often exported. He said that currently, the government has constructed 8 government owned industrial parks with a total of 375 factories or companies which need raw materials.By adding value, Museveni insinuates that more jobs will be created but more revenues will as well be fetched in taxes from the exports of the finished goods to the international markets.Museveni  listed his quadru-tier efforts aimed at achieving the social metamorphosis including building knowledge based economy using advanced scientific knowledge such as using technology of auto-mobiles therapeutics among others.He urged Members of Parliament to support ventures such as Kira motors who are involved in using technology to produce auto-mobiles to get them moving and noted that the government is focused on expanding and modernizing the service sector such as health, education, tourism and hospitality among others.
