PAKWACH. The construction of Wadilai irrigation scheme in Wadilai sub county, Pakwach district is near completion.
The officials in Pakwach district say the irrigation is aimed at improving commercial agriculture in the district.
In the financial year 2021/22 the ministry of finance has allocated money towards the construct water facilities for agricultural production in all the parishes across the country to improve livelihoods in rural areas through commercial farming.
According to officials, the district has been faced with a challenge of dry spell where farmers along river Nile used to practice artificial irrigation from the Nile water.
A total of 5,346 households will benefit from the irrigation which is under construction.

Oramba appeals to the farmers to embrace irrigation to better their lives through commercial agriculture.
Bernadette Awori, the project focal person Pakwach district local government is optimistic that Wadilai Irrigation scheme will be commissioned in September this year.
The government has injected over shillings 2.3 billion into the construction of Wadilai Irrigation scheme.
