AMURU A total of thirty-six South Sudanese are nursing severe injuries in Amuru district and Gulu City after involving in an accident on Monday evening.

The victims sustained critical injuries when the Tipper Lorry vehicle they were travelling in registration number UAV 919H overturned in Muruli in Attiak Town Council along the Adjumani-Attiak road.

They were from a new year prayer in Nyumanzi Refugee Settlement in Adjumani district returning to Nimule in South Sudan.

Thirteen of them were rushed to St Mary`s Hospital Lacor in Gulu City for treatment while twenty-three are admitted at Attiak Health Centre IV in Attiak Town Council, Amuru district.

Kenneth Okot, the Attiak Town Council Chairperson said on Tuesday morning that the 13 survivors who were rushed to St Mary`s Hospital Lacor in Gulu City needed specialized medical attention.

He added that the 23 at Attiak Health Centre IV were by Tuesday morning in stable conditions. 

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and is currently on the run. Okot who witnessed the incident has blamed it on speeding. Angello Ochieng, the In-charge of Attiak Health Centre IV said on Tuesday morning that the health conditions of three of those receiving treatment at the facility were deteriorating and were to be transferred to St Mary`s Hospital Lacor.
