The LC III Chairperson Paidha town council Zombo district, Innocent Onega Godfrey has directed the Paidha town clerk Esmond Odota to carry out a forensic audit on all drugs in Paidha health centre III.
Onega’s directive comes barely a few days after Paidha health centre III has been registering several thefts of drugs by some health personnel.
Over the weekend a team of security personnel arrested a health worker for allegedly stealing drug assortments at one of the facilities in Zombo district which he was transporting a unknown destination.
While deliberating today during the council meeting at Paidha cultural centre hall, Onega said the audit should be done immediately and handed over to the council.
Onega said the town clerk should immediately conduct the forensic audit and handover the report to the council. He condemned the act of stealing government drugs by some health workers and urged members of the public to be vigilant about the perpetuators of such crimes by reporting them to relevant authorities.
“Health workers who are found of stealing government drugs are wizards who what to kill people,” said Onega.
Meanwhile the deputy resident district commissioner Zombo Grace Atim has issued an order to Zombo health department to make sure that stakeholders inspect all drug assortments at the time of delivery by National Medical store NMS.
Atim revealed that this will help the different stakeholders to verify the amount of drugs being delivered to the district and account for them.
According to a report by a local CBO ZURUDENA, the health department in Zombo has been on spot for delivering empty drug boxes to some health facilities in the district.
Nelson Ogentho the ZURUDENA project officer said that they conducted the monitoring of drugs in both Okoro and Ora constituencies and discovered gaps which need urgent attention.
