ZOMBO: The cultural leaders from Alur have requested President Museveni to fulfill his pledge he made to support their SACCO.
According to the cultural leaders, the president
made the pledge to support them with shs 30m as a boost to their Sacco but, there has not been any positive response from him since then.
The renewed call on the Presidential pledge was made on Thursday at Got-Lei cultural site during council of chiefs meeting where representatives of 56 Chiefdoms in Alur kingdom attended.
Vincent Ochaya the Executive Director Alur Kingdom says, cultural chiefs must start the Sacco by contributing their own money thereafter the President will send in his pledge to back up the Sacco.
Meanwhile Duke Olama Okarson the Rwoth of Pangero Chiefdom who is also the chairperson of Alur cultural Sacco says, out of 56 Chiefdoms in the kingdom, only 10 chiefs have contributed their money to kick start the Sacco.
Olama added that, if the cultural chiefs form a Sacco, it will boast them financially and in the long run this will improve on their standard of living
