Members of Parliament from the West Nile sub-region have paid tribute to the late Gen. Moses Ali, describing him as a statesman whose decades of public service significantly contributed to peace, unity and socio-economic development in West Nile and Uganda at large.The legislators said Gen. Moses Ali championed infrastructure development, improved access to social services and peaceful coexistence among communities. They described him as a unifying leader whose commitment to public service transformed lives and inspired generations of leaders.

Arua City Woman Member of Parliament Morine Osoru said Gen. Moses Ali played a pivotal role in advancing development across West Nile through his tireless commitment to improving the welfare of the people.

Ayivu West Member of Parliament Phiona Onzima said Uganda had lost an exceptional leader whose decades of dedicated service benefited both West Nile and the entire country. She urged current and future leaders to emulate his patriotism, humility and unwavering commitment to national development.

Popularly known as the “Cock of Madi,” Gen. Moses Ali served Uganda in several senior government positions over more than five decades, including as First Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He was widely recognized for his role in promoting peace, reconciliation and development, particularly in the West Nile sub-region.

Following a special sitting of Parliament and other state funeral activities, Gen. Moses Ali  is  laid to rest at Taqwa Mosque Cemetery in Abaciriku Village, Biyaya Parish, Adjumani Town Council, Adjumani District, where thousands of mourners, including  government officials, Members of Parliament, cultural leaders, religious leaders and members of the public gathered to bid farewell to one of Uganda’s longest-serving statesmen.
