The Alur Kingdom has named a 12-member delegation to represent King Phillip Olarker Rauni III and the Alur people at the burial ceremony of the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom.

The delegation will attend the royal burial scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Karambi Royal Tombs in Fort Portal, where the late Tooro monarch will be laid to rest.

The delegation will be led by Rt. Hon. Vincent Ochaya Orac, the Deputy Prime Minister of Alur Kingdom, who will serve as the head of delegation.

According to a communication from the office of the Alur Kingdom Prime Minister, Rwoth Jepthar Orom Keronega will serve as deputy head of the delegation.

Other members include traditional chiefs, and kingdom officials: Rwoth Muzinga Patrick, Rwoth Evaristo Kerunega, Prince Henry Okoku Olarker, Hon. Opio Okech Bob, Minister for Culture and Legal Affairs, Hon. Umika Juliet Oromcan, Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Mr. David Rupiny, Director for Communication and Spokesperson, Mr. Agenonga Charles, Royal Cultural Envoy to Tooro, Prince Rwothmio Orom Kennedy One security guard and a driver

The Alur Kingdom said the delegation has been appointed to represent His Royal Majesty Phillip Olarker Rauni III, the Ubimu of Alur Kingdom, who will not personally attend the burial because he is currently indisposed.

“It is unfortunate that the Ubimu is currently indisposed and is therefore unable to personally send off his royal colleague and brother as well as commensurate with the Batooro Royal Family and people in a befitting manner,” the statement said.

The Alur Kingdom described the delegation as a gesture of cultural solidarity with the Tooro Kingdom and the royal family during the mourning period.

King Oyo’s burial on September 12 will mark the end of nine days of official mourning. The date also coincides with what would have been his 31st coronation anniversary, having ascended the Tooro throne on September 12, 1995, at the age of three.

According to the official burial programme, the final church service is scheduled to take place at St. John’s Cathedral in Fort Portal, after which the funeral procession will proceed to the Karambi Royal Tombs, where the king will be laid to rest.

The Alur Kingdom also conveyed condolences to the Batooro people and prayed for the peaceful rest of the late monarch.

“May the soul of the late King Oyo Nyimba Iguru Rukidi IV rest in eternal peace with the Lord and our Ancestors,” the message said.
