Hon. Stephen Kisa

The Chairperson of Parliament’s HIV/AIDS Committee and Luuka South MP, Stephen Kisa, has urged government to increase support to secondary school and tertiary institution students to reduce their vulnerability to HIV infection.

Kisa also called on parents to provide their children with necessities, especially food and money, to help them concentrate on their studies.

The call follows concerns raised by education leaders and the Uganda National Students Association that hunger and financial challenges are pushing some female students into risky sexual relationships.

UNSA President Sheila Ainembabazi said some university students struggle to afford food and sanitary towels, while some secondary school students also lack adequate meals.
