ACHOLI REGION. Leaders in Acholi sub region have criticized Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja following her statement that iron sheets meant for Northern Uganda be used to replace those that were stolen by government officials.

Nabanja, whose video went viral in a statement released recently said that since Northern Uganda`s iron sheets are still in the Office of the Prime Minister`s stores can be taken to Karamoja to support the families who are in dire need of the iron sheets.

Anthony Akol, the Kilak North Member of Parliament, also the Acholi Parliamentary Group Chairperson as leaders from Acholi Sub region, they are identifying vulnerable members of the community who are struggling with various life challenges to benefit from the iron sheets.

Akol said that apparently, Nabanja could be perceiving that the iron sheets are dormant in OPM stores thinking that leaders and people are not interested in them.

Michael Lakony, the Amuru district LCV Chairperson says instead of thinking of replacing the Karamoja iron sheets with those meant for Acholi, the government should instead focus on tightening the grip on the suspects and recovery.

Currently, already three Ministers including Goretti Kitutu, the Minister of State for Karamoja, Amos Lugoloobi, the Minister for Finance and Minister of State for Karamoja affairs, Agnes Nadutu have all been arrested by police in relation to the theft of iron sheets.

Ricky Richard Anywar, the vice Chairperson Acholi Parliamentary Group, says currently, people are spending sleepless nights due to consistent attacks by suspected Karamojong cattle warriors. Anywar said that as legislators, they are not in support of the decision taken by Nabanja saying that she could have been misadvised.
