GULU: The police have recovered the wreckage of a truck that plunged into River Nile at Karuma waterfalls in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, reportedly killing its occupants.

Richard Anyama, the Nwoya District Police Commander said on Wednesday that the wreckage of the truck registration number UAT 113S/UBE 405P was recovered about 20 meters away from the accident scene by a team of marine officers who were deployed to search the area.

He, however, notes that no remains of the occupants of the truck have since been established, noting that a search was to continue.

The police have identified the occupants of the truck as Tumusiime who is the driver and his turn boy Geoffrey Lushata.

The truck driver hit the bridge rails before it veered into the river through the bridge’s western side in the Nwoya district.
