PARLIAMENT: The leader of opposition Mathias Mpuga has put authorities on spot over the many numerous unresolved murders in the country.

This was during a special sitting by parliament to pay tribute to the state Minister of labor and social development and Mp for Oyam North the late Charles Engola who was gunned down on Tuesday last week at his home in Kyanja a city suburb by his body guard a one Pte Wilson Sabity.

Mpuga cited the gunning down of high profile people like Ibrahim Abiriga who was then the MP for ARUA Municipality and his body guard, state prosecutor Joan Kagezi and Andrew Felix Kawesi who was the assistance IGP among other assassinations that have been witnessed in country in the previous years.

He said that despite the procurement of CCTV cameras and other strategies made by President Yoweri Museveni, the murders of Ugandans and other VIPS are still going on.

He demanded for answers on where the guns that are involved in the murders are from.

The Minister for Labor and social development who is also the MP for Oyam South Betty Among said the late Engola was instrumental in ensuring the closure of IDP camps in Oyam district.

The Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja said that the Late Engola played a fundamental role in the pacification of Northern Uganda by putting up a spirited fight against the Lord’s resistance Army (LRA). She described the late Engola as a fearless warrior.  

Engola will be buried on Saturday in Iceme sub-county Oyam district.
