ARUA: The administrators of secondary schools in Arua City are to discuss strategies to improve the academic performance of the candidates following the recently released Uganda Certificate of Education results.

Grace Draru Manasseh, the head teacher Muni Girls SS says more efforts are needed to improve the science performance and English subject. She said that school performance is a collective effort that involves both the input of teachers and students. She says that the school was able to get got 7 first grades, 49 second and 55 students passed in third grade.

The school did not perform well and we are yet to analyze the results.

Brother Robert Okello, the head teacher Bishop Angelo Tarantino SS notes that last year’s candidates were unserious despite the effort that teachers put in to ensure academic excellence of the students.

The scho did not equally perform well. He says the school attained 3 first grades and 19 2nd grades.

“We intend to convene a staff meeting to analyze the results and address the loopholes with the academic committee and forge a way forward,” he stated.

According to the proprietor of St Augustine SS Kuluva, Tonny Drazu the candidates failed to balance their grades. He says they were able to attain only 2 first grades, 28 second grade and majority passed in third grade “He says the students did not perform well as most students passed in grade three. He adds that they will convene a parents meeting to forge a way forward on the matter,” he said.
