LEADERS IN ATHUMA SUB-COUNTY IN ZOMBO DECRY THE LACK OF HEALTH FACILITIES IN THEIR AREA

ZOMBO: Leaders in Athuma sub county, Zombo district have decried the lack of health facilities in the sub county.

According to GinaruOnegiu, the chairperson LC III of Athuma sub-county says that the lack of health centers in the sub county have contributed to the increase in maternal death as pregnant mothers trek for 10 km to Jangokoro health center III,NyapeaHopsital and Zombo health center III respectively.

He made this revelation last week to the state minister for northern Uganda Grace Kwiyucwiny Freedom during the monitoring of Development Initiative for Northern Uganda (DINU) with funding from European Union (EU) and United Nation Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) in Athuma Sub County.

Bolingo Francis, male district councilor for Athuma Sub County, blames the government for neglecting Athuma Sub County in service delivery.

In response, Kwiyucwiny said that Government is in a process of building a health center III in Athuma Sub County but urged the locals to donate land where the health facility will be constructed.
