ZOMBO: The King of Alur Kingdom His Royal Majesty Olarker Phillip Raunii III has passed a declaration banning all Clan chiefs from presiding over land transactions and land give a ways.

Speaking at the third quarter Council of Chiefs meeting at Bar Lei on Jukia hill in Nebbi municipality, the King blamed the rampant illegal land transactions by area local leaders and unscrupulous clan chiefs.

“ Some clan leaders have been compromised and in order to end the illegal land transactions in Zombo district, they should step aside from any land dealings,” he said.

According to King Olarker among the common areas that have been reported with rampant illegal land transactions are Padel, Fualwonga, Opano, Boro and Lei. 

In 2018, several areas including; Padolo in Erussi Sub County Nebbi district, Patera in Atyak, Panyigoro areas in Pakwach were affected by illegal land transactions. Others were; Acer and Agule in Ndhew Sub County Nebbi district were marred land transactions.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Ayivuni Nesta Odaga Uledhere II who doubles as the Royal Guru has called for more stringent measures against illegal sale of land in the Kingdom if the vice is to be mitigated.
