The 2025 UCE results were today officially released by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, at State House, Nakasero.
Male candidates continued to outperform their female counterparts in the sciences, while female candidates excelled in English Language and Christian Religious Education (CRE).
The 2025 examinations utilized the revised grading structure introduced to align with the competency-based curriculum. The traditional “Division” system (Division 1 to 4) has been replaced by competency levels ranging from A to E. This shift emphasizes what a learner can do rather than just what they can recall.
In her address, the minister of Education and sports, Janet Museveni highlighted the significant growth in candidate registration, noting that 432,159 students sat for the examinations, representing a 12.1% increase from the previous year. She praised the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) for maintaining the integrity of the assessment process under the new curriculum guidelines.
The First Lady also addressed the government’s commitment to science and vocational education. She noted that the performance in science subjects remains a priority for the Ministry, as outlined in the Education Sector Strategic Plan, which seeks to align secondary education with the country’s “Vision 2040” goals for industrialization.
