President Yoweri Museveni has commended American evangelist Dr. Michelle Corral for her humanitarian support to refugee communities and vulnerable people in Uganda.

The President made the remarks in a message delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo during a three-day East Africa Fire and Anointing Pastors Conference attended by Dr. Corral and other religious leaders. The 3rd East Africa Fire & Anointing Pastors Conference took place at the Sharing Youth Centre in Nsambya, Kampala, Uganda, on 24–25 August 2026.

President Museveni thanked Dr. Corral for what he described as her tremendous contribution to communities in Uganda, particularly through humanitarian assistance.

He also highlighted the role of Christianity in transforming lives, saying the faith has helped some people abandon destructive habits such as excessive alcohol consumption and instead focus on productive activities, including educating their children.

The President called on Christians to continue building stable and prosperous families while engaging in income-generating activities to improve household livelihoods.

During the event, President Museveni was awarded a medal in recognition of his contribution to promoting peace and security in Uganda, East Africa and the wider African continent. First Lady Janet Museveni was also recognized for her contribution to the education sector.

Dr. Corral, the founder of Breath of the Spirit Ministries International, commended President Museveni for Uganda’s refugee-hosting policy, noting that the country accommodates one of the largest refugee populations in Africa.

“This is very commendable for the President and his beautiful wife, Ms. Janet Museveni, for allowing refugees to stay,” Dr. Corral said.

Dr. Corral is in Uganda for the three-day East Africa Fire and Anointing Pastors Conference, during which she is also expected to support vulnerable communities through food relief and medical assistance, including people living in Katanga.

At 72, Dr. Corral says she remains committed to spreading the Gospel and providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities. She said her current focus is increasingly shifting towards supporting communities in Northern Uganda.

She also called on political leaders across the world to respect the dignity and rights of all people and work towards creating a more peaceful world.

Dr. Corral said addressing conflicts and promoting peace would help reduce the number of people forced to flee their homes and become refugees as a result of war and insecurity.
