Okoro county NRM flag contestants

The Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has confirmed that the party’s primary elections will be held this Thursday, 17th July, as earlier scheduled — even in areas where party registers are incomplete or unavailable.

Addressing Journalists at the party electoral commission offices in Kyadondo, Dr. Tanga dismissed circulating reports suggesting a possible postponement due to unpreparedness, asserting that the Commission is ready to conduct the exercise across all constituencies.

Dr. Tanga also issued a stern warning to security operatives and other individuals he described as “detractors,” cautioning them against interfering in the electoral process. He emphasized that security forces should only intervene when officially invited by the Electoral Commission to do so.

9 women in Zombo district are tussling it out for NRM flag for a parliamentary seat. These include Tasha Giramia Peace, a Journalist, Nega Elizabeth, daughter of former Kampala Lord Mayor W.Y. Nega (1965–1968), Gloria Oroma: Daughter of Paidha’s renowned businessman Jesse Okweda, Oroma, Topista Acamfua: A social worker  and the incumbent Zombo district mp,
Esther Afoyochan among others.

Meanwhile 5 candidates are competing for NRM flag to represent the people of Ora county and these include; the incumbent Mp, Lawrence Biyika Songa, Grace Freedom Kwiyuchwiny, Senior presidential advisor and former state minister for northern Uganda, Alex Jagenu  a  former Principal Personnel Officer at the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, and Industry, Charles Kermundu among others.

5 candidates are in contest for NRM flag to represent the people of Okoro constituency and these include Gabriel Okumu the incumbent, Nobert Okello a social worker, Sam Kumakech, Denis orera among others.

All the candidates have fronted the development of Zombo district as their key priority when they are voted in power, putting more emphasis on lobbying for tarmacking of major roads, health infrastructure  , education sector , provision of save drinking water, empowerment of  the girl child and wealth creation   through government programs and individual initiatives.
