RELIGIOUS LEADERS ACROSS DENOMINATIONS PRAY FOR THE NATION AHEAD OF ELECTIONS

As Uganda goes to polls in 2026 religious leaders from different denominations are planning for special prayers to dedicate the nation to God so as to be able to have smooth elections.
The chairperson of the organizing committee Dr. Micheal Kimuli the senior pastor of Christian Discipleship Ministries said that the prayers are being spearheaded by pastor Patience Rwabwogo, the Senior Pastor of Covenant Nations Church and will attract several preachers from within and out of the country.
“The church is coming together under the banner of unity we believe it’s the role of the church and its responsibility to go a head of nations especially in seasons of transition. This is a once in a generational gathering of the church in nations to pray and intercede for the country,” said Apostle KImuli
Apostle Michael Kimuli added that the body of Christ has come together across denominational lines because  we realize the work of discipling and up holding our nation in prayer is too great for any one church, denomination or ministry
Apostle micheal Kimuli said that the prayer meeting has invited all Ugandans who have their country at heart to join in the prayer without any segregation. “This is not a political meeting, but prayers for the country, no politics will be involved,” said Apostle Kimuli.
Apostle Michael Kimuli said the prayers are scheduled for May 19 to 24 at Kololo independence grounds in Kampala. He explained that the beginning of the meeting will be set aside for only men in the country to discuss and travail for their country among other discussions.
Dr. Apostle Micheal Kimuli further explained that this is not the first time such prayers are being held however, the same have been done in various parts of the country including eastern, western and northern parts of the country. Apostle Kimuli reported that the mission, envisioned by Pastor Patience Rwabogo of Covenant Nations Church, has registered inspired testimonies across Uganda since 2022.
He says that the prayers that are expected to be attended by President Yoweri museveni and the first Lady Janet Museveni will have a guest speaker, Bishop LaDonna C. Osborn, President and CEO of Osborn Ministries International, the world missionary organization. Other   speakers will include pastor Joseph Serwanda senior pastor of victory church , professor Simon Kayuwa, one of the founding fathers of the Pentecostal movement in Uganda, pastor Robert Kayanja, the founder and senior pastor of the Miracle Centre Cathedral,  Rt. Rev. Gaster Nsereko, Bishop of west Buganda diocese,  Rev. Dr. John W Mulinde, the Founder and Global Overseer of World Trumpet Mission,  among many others.
Apostle Michael Kimuli said the prayers theme is “The Crossing: The Church Stepping into the Waters before the Nation,” aims at fostering national repentance and transformation across social, economic, political, and personal spheres.
“The body of Christ has come together across denominational lines because we all realize the work of discipling and up holding our nation in prayer is too great for any one church or ministry,” said Apostle Kimuli.
Andrew Kaguhangire, the head of missions at Covenant Nations Church further highlighted the importance of unity for effective spiritual leadership for the country. “We are achieving unity of purpose which the first church was emphasizing,  we  are from different denominations but now we are advancing the cause of Christianity  taking the word of God to everyone and praying for those ones who need to be prayed  for  and descipling the nation of Uganda. we feel it’s our role to disciple our nation and take it to another level,” said Kaguhangire.
The senior pastor at Christianity focus ministries church in Mengo Kisenyi, Bishop David Kiganda said that there will be prayers and fasting for people to have hope to guard against  behaviors like corruption, self-suicide among the Ugandan communities.
