Educationists have been encouraged to embrace and implement Professional Learning Outcomes PLC practices with an aim of professionalizing learning and to better the learning outcomes in primary schools within Zombo district.

PLC is implemented through Alochi ku Somu project to identify and address the challenges in schools in all the 92 government and private aided schools in the 15 sub counties within Zombo district.

Dickson Ocan district chairperson PLC noted that over 65% of primary schools have functional PLC practices with about 25% practicing actively, 40% implementing without knowledge.

Representatives from Jangokoro Sub County stated that through PLC innovation, Kango primary school has designated every Thursday for PLC reflective dialogue meeting from 2pm and managed to plant fruit trees on the school compound.

Representatives from Alangi Sub County mentioned the initiation of incidental learning charts in all classrooms for the learners and creating of activities during assembly to reduce pupil absenteeism.

Jude Oweka Deogratious, coordinator PLC disclosed that awards await schools whose PLC functionality are outstanding in terms of classroom organization, joint scheming and support aspect as some of the criteria.

Senior education officer Patrick Bikadhu challenged the executives on sustainability and implantation of PLC with a target of improved performance in the district.

This was during the executive review meeting at the district headquarters under Alochi ku Somu project with funding from COOPERAID and a consortium of CEFORD, LICO Nebbi district NGO Forum.
